LikeDislikeHi Norry! It’s advisable to replace your HP laptop charger with an original one from HP. In South Africa you get them e.g. at Incredible Connection or Matrix Warehouse Computers. Both stores have lots of branches around the country. Yet, R300-R450 is probably would you will lend up paying. In my view its a little overpriced. Outside South Africa (e.g. on Ebay US or Europe), you’ll find them for approximately R150.

I think it depends on how long and how often you use your old HP laptop?
If you wish to continue using it you may consider its own original brand (check the price first)
if you may purchase another laptop in a year, you may buy a adaptor from a third party, then it could be more efficient.

LikeDislikeif I were you, I will consider about universal adapter from 3rd party. Some 3rd-party brand can supply universal adapter with different tips for different notebook brands and models.
A universal adapter can also help u save cost and bring convenience between friends or family members, as one adapter is for different brands/models, u can share the adapter with your friends or family members.
